Jeff Brohm, who had accepted a position to remain with the University of Louisville coaching staff last Wednesday, was offered a position on Nick Saban's new staff at Alabama on Thursday.

"It came down to do I want to help Alabama win a national championship or help Louisville win a national championship and the answer was easy," said Brohm during a press conference held at halftime of the Louisville - Providence basketball game on Saturday afternoon.

Brohm, who served as the Cardinals quarterback coach for four years, will be elevated to associate head coach and passing game coordinator under new head coach Steve Kragthorpe.

No announcement has been made regarding Jeff's younger Brian and his intentions to remain with U of L for his senior season or to enter the 2007 NFL Draft. A decision must be reached by Monday.

Kragthorpe also named seven others to his first staff at U of L. Mike Cassity and Keith Patterson will serve as co-defensive coordinators. Patterson comes from Tulsa and will also coach the corners.

Charlie Stubbs will serve as U of L's offensive coordinator, the same position he held under Kragthorpe at Tulsa the past four years.

Brent Myers, who also comes with Kragthorpe from Tulsa, will serve as offensive line and running backs coach, while Greg Nord, formerly U of L's running back coach, will stay on and coach tight end. Myers served as offensive line coach at Utah under Florida coach Urban Meyer.

Reggie Johnson will coach linebackers, while former Tulsa and Kentucky assistant Mark Nelson will coach the defensive line and special teams.
