Pitino watches top recruits in New York

Fresh off back-to-back Big East wins, Louisville coach Rick Pitino flew into New York to watch two of his top prospects - American Christian junior guard Tyreke Evans and Rice sophomore point guard Lamont Jones. InsideTheVille.com has the scoop.

PITINO WATCHES TYREKE EVANS

Tyreke Evans scored 33 points to lead American Christian School over South Kent School 110-91 at the Nike Super Six at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday.

The junior guard shot 12-for-25 from the field (1-for-6 three-point) and 8-for-11 from the line, while collecting seven rebounds and five assists versus one turnover.

"His understanding of the game has improved," said American Christian coach Tony Bergeron. "He can go out and score 40 without issue. He's running the show really well. We've won nine straight games since I moved him to the point."

Louisville's Rick Pitino was among those on hand.

The Louisville coaching staff was out in force on Sunday at the Nike Super Six at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This event is held annually in Manhattan.

Head coach Rick Pitino and assistants Steve Masiello and Marvin Menzies were on hand as Rice High School of New York City defeated Derrick Rose's Chicago Simeon team 53-51.

Sophomore combo guard Lamont "Mo-Mo" Jones of Rice is heavily leaning toward the Big East program.
