Walker visits with trio of Cardinal coaches

All-State punter Brandon Walker, who verbally committed to Louisville in September, has drawn increased interest from Notre Dame & Pittsburgh since the recent coaching change. On Monday, the Scout.com three-star prospect visited with a trio of Cardinal coaches that are working to keep his earlier pledge...

Just like everyone else that had committed to Louisville prior to the departure of the previous head coach, Findlay, Ohio punter Brandon Walker was forced back in the recruiting game. Walker had hoped to have the recruiting process completed by now and thought he had when he verbally committed to the Cardinals in September.

Despite the coaching change, Walker's early intentions were to remain firm in his commitment.

"Right now I'd say that if Louisville wants to have me, I'd love to have them," he said in an interview the day following Bobby Petrino's decision to coach the Atlanta Falcons. "If my scholarship's valid, then I consider myself a Cardinal. Right now I'm committed to Louisville."

However, the past two weeks have seen Big East rival Pittsburgh, as well as Notre Dame, make a serious run at Walker. Walker visited Pittsburgh the weekend of January 12 and Notre Dame extended an offer late last week.

"I was hoping to everything done when I committed back in September," Walker told IrishEyes.com last week. "But since there have been coaching changes that has been postponed."

A trio of Cardinal coaches visited with Walker on Monday afternoon.

"Coach Kragthorpe, Coach Nelson and Coach Cassity came up to visit with me today," Walker told InsideTheVille.com. "The meeting went well."

The recent changes at U of L, as well as the new interest from others, has Walker reconsidering all of his options. He hopes to have his final college choice made by the end of the month or in early February.

As for his thoughts on his current commitment to Louisville, Walker remains quiet and choses not to comment on the situation until next week, telling InsideTheVille.com that he'll provide an update next Thursday.
