Louisville offers top junior linebacker

Jerrell Harris, from Gadsden, (Ala.), is one of the best linebacker recruits in the country for 2008 with several early scholarship offers to prove his worth. He has his attention towards basketball during this winter season where the Titans are one of the best teams in Class 6A.

"We are ranked No. 3 in the state," said Jerrell Harris from Gadsden, (Ala.). "We won our area championship over Oxford. Our record is 26-2."

"I am the starting center for our team. We play Huffman at home Friday in the sub-region. If we win we will go to Jacksonville."

Harris stands 6-3, 210-pounds. He is one of the most athletic linebackers you will find in the South, and his offer list is steadily growing in numbers.

"I got a lot of colleges on me right now," he said. "I have offers from Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Colorado and Louisville."

"Georgia Tech, Florida State and Georgia are all recruiting as well."

It was the former Alabama coaching staff who were the first to offer the standout linebacker, and Harris has spoken with the new staff about his original offer.

"I talked to coach [Major] Applewhite and one of the defensive coaches. They told me that my offer is still there for me. I am going to Alabama's Junior Day February 24," Harris said.

Harris has not scheduled any other weekend visits and plans to enjoy the recruiting process.

"I am still taking my time and looking at everyone," he said. "I don't have any favorites."

Harris recorded over 100 tackles and two interceptions during his junior season.
