Withey leads team in playoffs

Jeff Withey, a 2008 Louisville commit, posted some monster numbers last week in the San Diego (CA) sectional playoffs, leading Horizon High School to a pair of big wins.

Louisville commit Jeff Withey continued his excellent junior season last week with back-to-back triple-doubles in the San Diego sectional playoffs.

Withey, a versatile 7-foot center, led Horizon past Santa Fe Christian in the quarterfinals. Withey put up monster numbers against Christian, posing 21 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists. Also one of the top shot blockers in California, Withey finished with eight blocks.

"Some highlights from last night's game against Christian were Jeff's dunks. (Jeff) had a beautiful tomahawk and an alley oop in the paint with multiple defenders. It was a very nice game," Withey's mother, Debbie, informed InsideTheVille.com.

In the game prior, Withey also came up big for his team, finishing with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks in a victory over Guajome Park Academy.

On the season, Withey averages 15.5 points, 13.3 rebounds and has blocked 158 shots – 7.2 per game. Withey is shooting 69 percent from the floor.

Horizon next plays Bishops on Wednesday in the semifinal game.
