"It's going along fine," Hawkins said of the early recruiting process. "It's about what I thought it would be so far."
An early scholarship offer from Duke, plus plenty of attention has already come Hawkins way, who provided an impressive list of schools that are also expressing interest.
"Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Louisville, Florida, Vanderbilt, LSU, Mississippi State, Auburn and Ole Miss," said the Lithonia, Georgia prospect. "I was hearing a lot from Louisville before the coaching change, plus we moved."
Hawkins has noticed a slight decrease in mail since his family's recent change of address, so he recently took things under control to make sure that the college coaches know where to find him.
"I just sent out some video to all the schools that I mentioned, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they all have to say," he explained.
In addition to sending out highlights from a strong junior season, Hawkins is hoping for some face with the coaches by attending junior days, games and camps.
"I went Georgia's junior day recently," he said. "It was nice there - I really enjoyed it. I visited Vandy during the season for the game against Temple and I'm trying to go to Ohio State this summer."
Hawkins continues to work hard during the off-season improving his overall speed and techniques.
"I had a real good year last year and I want to have a good year as a senior," said Hawkins. "I'd say that my strength is pass-blocking, but I think I'm pretty good at run-blocking as well. Right now I'm just trying to get faster and more quicker with better explosion."
