After recovering from knee surgery well ahead of schedule, Padgett has led the Cardinals in field goal percentage, making 57.6 percent (seventh best in the BIG EAST). He is averaging 9.5 points and 5.7 rebounds. Padgett has scored in double figures in 12 games this year and has grabbed seven or more rebounds in 14 games. He has averaged 2.2 blocks over the last nine games.
The only player to start all 30 games for the Cardinals, Williams is the Cards' leader in scoring (12.2), rebounding (7.2, 12th in the BIG EAST) and assists (3.7, 15th in the BIG EAST). He has seven double-doubles this season and eight for his career, including 15 points and 11 rebounds against Seton Hall in the regular season finale.
Sosa has been the Cardinals' starter at point guard in all but two games. He leads U of L in steals (42), is second in assists (85), and third in three-pointers made (41-of-119, .345). He has scored in double figures in 15 games, including 9 of the last 15, and has averaged 3.9 assists over the last six games. Sosa also earned recognition on the BIG EAST Honor Roll this week after scoring 18 points and handing out two assists without a turnover against Seton Hall on Sunday.
The Cardinals (22-8 overall, 12-4 BIG EAST) earned the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Conference Championship presented by Aeropostale in New York's Madison Square Garden. U of L will play the winner of the seventh-seeded West Virgina vs. No. 10 Providence game on Thursday, March 8, at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
