A visit to Gainesville (GA) High School by Louisville assistant Greg Nord on Thursday brought defensive end Keith Wells his sixth scholarship offer to date.

"It came as a total surprise," Wells told just a few hours after receiving the U of L offer. "My coach told me that Louisville was coming by and when I was on my way to lift weights I saw Coach Nord. We aren't really allowed to talk, so we just shook hands and then my coach told me later that they offered me."

In addition to Louisville, the 6-foot-5, 210-pound prospect has also collected offers from Boston College, Georgia Tech, Marshall, North Carolina and South Carolina.

"Coach Nord has been telling me that he was going to try to pull some strings so they could offer me and then he came by the school and did," Wells said. "I'm definitely going to try to go up to Louisville for a visit this summer."

Wells attended junior days at both Georgia and Georgia Tech, plus he already made unofficial visits with Clemson and North Carolina.

"I know it hasn't really picked up a lot of steam yet," Wells said of the recruiting process. "Right now I'm just trying to keep an open mind about everything."

By keeping an open mind, Wells shies away from naming an early favorite.

"Louisville, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Florida definitely," Wells said. "North Carolina and South Carolina are up there too. Basically all the schools that have offered me so far."

Wells, who is currently participating in track, will join his team for spring practice on Wednesday.

"I want to focus on the season and let my teammates know that they can count on me to be focused on helping our team try to get to the state championship," Wells said. "After the season I'll work on figuring out which school."

As a junior, Wells totaled over 60 tackles, including 13 sacks.
