Cruse Looking For First Offer

Word is starting to get out about a hidden receiver prospect in the Cincinnati area. While posting super numbers as a junior despite missing two games and not recording a catch in his first game back, this receiver is opening the eyes of college coaches and will look to earn offers this summer.

Andrew Cruse has the physical size and athletic ability to play at the next level. But while he posted some super numbers college coaches have yet to show enough interest to make an official offer. That soon could change as the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Cruse looks to camp and turn some heads.

"Several of the college coaches have told me they want to see me in their camp. So I'll be working to do my best there and hope to earn a scholarship."

During the regular season Cruse pulled in 25 passes for 687 yards and 11 touchdowns. His longest catch was 69 yards while he averaged 27.5 yards per catch in helping Turpin to a regular season mark of 9-1.

But while any receiver at the high school level would love to post such numbers, Cruse did these missing two full games and not catching a pass in his first game back. Add into these numbers his performance during Turpin's run in the playoffs where he would pull in another 19 balls for 456 yards and 3 touchdowns, and you can see why college programs have been looking at the All-Fort Ancient Valley Conference performer.

While being recruited as a receiver, with his physical build he could also grow into a flex tight-end at the next level. Who's been in contact with Cruse?

"I've visited Cincinnati, Ohio State, West Virginia, Louisville, Akron, Miami Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana so far. No one has offered me at this time, but many of the coaches have told me they are very, very close to offering and they want me to camp."

Out of whom he's visited, Cruse list the following programs as one's he really liked after his visit.

Cincinnati: "I went to their spring game and really liked what I saw from their offense. They throw the ball around a lot and the facilities are really good. They show that they really want me and I've really liked going there each time."

West Virginia:" I really like West Virginia a lot. I drove over there and back one day and they seemed to be really interested in me. I like their facilities and they seem to be really nice. "

Louisville: "They like to throw the ball and have a great stadium and facilities. They are going to be real good this year."

Indiana: "They are doing a lot of work on their football facilities. When we drove up there I was like they won't have much since this is a basketball school. But they are building a huge weight room and say it's going to be the biggest in the Big 10 when it's done. They are also doing a lot of other things for the football program and showed me a highlight video on everything."

"I also like Akron and Miami Ohio as well."

Cruse shows great ability to go up and get the ball and to catch the deep ball. The one question mark may have is his speed. With a reported 4.6- 40-time Cruse would open many eyes if he should post a time in this area.
