Cards in top group for Alabama athlete

De'Von Hairston of Enterprise, Ala., recently collected his first scholarship offer and tells Scout.com that two schools currently top his list...

"I have received an offer from Alabama," said De'Von Hairston. "They offered me when I went there for the A-Day game. It's a verbal offer right now. I know I have to work hard to get what I want."

"I am receiving interest from Memphis, Louisville, Iowa State, Auburn and Mississippi State as well. I had planned to visit Louisville, but it was the same day I went up to Alabama."

Hairston talks about his visit to Tuscaloosa for the Tide's A-Day game.

"I thought it was a pretty good game. The offense did well. They have a really strong offense this year," he said.

"I really like their history. They have always been a great team. They have great coaches and great facilities."

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect lists his top two schools as Alabama and Louisville. When asked his interest in the Cardinals Hairston replied, "I just think they have great coaches."

Enterprise head coach Kevin Collins described Hairston, "De'Von is a real good safety for us. He is a guy who has been on Alabama's recruiting list since he was a sophomore. He is a physical player with speed in the low 4.5 range."

Hairston will attend the Scout.com All-American Camp May 26 in Atlanta
