Cards visit PA offensive lineman

Boyertown, Pa., native Tyler Sands picked up his sixteenth offer today and is now at the point where he is trying to set some sort of time frame for when a decision will be made or at the very least, his list will be trimmed.

Tyler Sands would love to have his list trimmed by the middle of summer, but the Boyertown Area High School offensive tackle may not have that luxury as schools from around the country continue to offer the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder at a torrid pace. Sands spoke briefly about his recent activity tonight with through email.

"I just wanted to let you know that Syracuse offered me today bringing my total offers to 16 and I was also visited by Duke and Louisville today in school," Sands explained. "I am expecting both Coach (Matt) Rhule and Coach Al Golden from Temple in school tomorrow and then Coach (Paul) Dunn and Coach Dave Wannstedt will be out from Pittsburgh on the 21st of the month."

"Right now I'm in the process of setting up about ten unofficial visits that I want to take with my parents in June and then hopefully if all goes well, I'd like to narrow the list down to ten schools or even five by early to mid July," Sands said. "Maybe at that point I could have a decision made by September which would be great. If I'm not ready by then I'll just take my time and take official visits as the season progresses. Of course all of this is barring any more offers or interest from new schools that would help to sway or alter my decision in any way."

Sands now holds offers from Syracuse, Army, Boston College, Delaware, Villanova, Illinois, Akron, Duke, Navy, Nebraska, Temple, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Maryland and Connecticut. He benches 350 pounds, squats 515 pounds, and has a 27-inch vertical leap. Sands also does well in the classroom where he reports a 3.7 core GPA and scored a 1710 on the SAT.
