The eight-team field includes four games, the first two at campus sites and the final two at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
U of L will face Hartford on Nov. 17 in Freedom Hall in its season opener and the first game of the event. The Cardinals will play Jackson State, a 2007 NCAA Tournament participant with a 21-14 record a year ago, in the second game on Nov. 18 in Freedom Hall.
U of L will face BYU, which posted a 25-9 record and reached the NCAA Tournament last season, in the third round of the Las Vegas Invitational on Nov. 23 in Las Vegas at 6 p.m. Pacific Time, followed by North Carolina (31-7) vs. Old Dominion (22-11) -- both 2007 NCAA Tournament participants -- at 9 p.m. The losers of those two games will play on Nov. 24 at 4:30 p.m. in the final round and the winners will square off at 7:30 p.m. in an ESPN2 televised game. Iona and South Carolina State complete the eight-team field.
North Carolina has been tabbed as the nation's No. 2 team in ESPN.com's preseason ranking and No. 4 by CBSSportsline.com. U of L is ranked No. 6 and No. 5, respectively, in those same rankings by Andy Katz and Gary Parrish.
While heading to the final rounds of the tournament, the Cardinals will also play at UNLV on Nov. 21 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. The Runnin' Rebels reached the NCAA Sweet 16 last season with a 31-7 record and ranked 14th in the final USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll and 19th by AP.
