Czyz likes Louisville

Darrius Miller isn't the only 2008 prospect Louisville and Kentucky could end up battling for. The Cardinals and Wildcats are both showing strong interest in Olek Czyz, one of the fastest rising power forwards in the nation.

Czyz, an athletic forward from Reno, Nevada, attends the same high school as current Louisville center David Padgett. Since "blowing up" earlier this summer, Czyz has been busy making unofficial visits all over the country, including trips to both Louisville and Kentucky last month.

"They went great," Czyz said of his trip to the Bluegrass state. "Coach Gillespie liked me a lot and offered me. And then we swung by Louisville and Coach Pitino (met) me and he also offered. That was a good trip."

Czyz attended Kentucky's elite camp. Afterward, he swung by Louisville, met with Rick Pitino and played some pickup basketball with members of the Cardinals team. It was something Czyz hasn't forgotten.

"It went great," he said of the pickup action in Louisville. "I dunked on two guys."

Oh really? Who?

"I can't remember I was so excited," he said.

Here's the deal on the recruiting front: Besides Louisville and Kentucky, Czyz is receiving love from the Pac-10 and a few other programs on the west coast.

"Louisville, Kentucky, Arizona State, Pepperdine, Washington State – they all have offered and they've been going pretty hard after me," Czyz said.

In the next month or two, Czyz will take a very reasoned approach toward making his decision.

"At the end of this month – the beginning of August, I'll pick my top five and I'll take official visits to those colleges and then I'll make my decision," he explained. "I'll take my time and we'll see how it goes."

So far, according to Czyz, no favorite(s) have emerged in his recruitment.

"There is no school that stands out or anything like that," he said. "I'm wide-open to all offers."

He does, however, have good things to say about Louisville.

"Louisville is a great program," Czyz said. "I love the coach and the facilities that are coming up are going to be great. I really like Louisville."
