Louisville in mix with five-star Aghayere

Five-Star Texas DE Chancey Aghayere will make his college decision early this fall. While one school currently has the edge for Aghayere's services, he's planning a few visits before settling on a decision, including one to Louisville next month.

Chancey Aghayere, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound five-star defensive end from Garland, Texas, finished his junior season with 65 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and five sacks.

"I have good speed and strength," Aghayere said. "I can go around tackles or use my power too. I'm very physical, but I still want to improve my technique and footwork."

Aghayere benches 295 pounds, squats 315 and jumps a 32-inch vertical. He also runs a 4.7 forty.

Ranked No. 8 in the Southwest by Scout.com and No. 39 nationally, Aghayere has over 30 scholarship offers and favors the in-state Longhorns. Texas leads slightly over Florida, LSU, Notre Dame, Louisville and Oklahoma. All of his favorites have offered as well as Oklahoma State, UCLA, California, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Baylor, Nebraska and several others.

"I grew up following Texas," Aghayere said. "Both my parents went there (dad played soccer, mom ran track) and it's not too far away (about four hours). It would be nice if my friends and family would be able to see me play. I just like that they are a winning team and I love the campus. It's real big, but it's still a family atmosphere."

Despite his affection for the Longhorns, Aghayere admits he's also a fan of Texas rival, Oklahoma. "They are big-time," he said. "They are a very prestigious program and I like their rivalry with Texas. A lot of guys from Texas go to Oklahoma, which makes the rivalry that much bigger. They are both always in the top 25 and both have amazing tradition."

Aghayere plans on taking an official visit before making his decision. He's already scheduled a trip to Florida on Sept. 15, and will make his announcement two days later on his birthday (Sept. 17). "I just want to feel at home and go where I'm needed and where I'll be able to play.

"I'm gonna try to visit LSU by the end of the month and I'm going to Louisville in August," he said.

"I love the SEC and LSU is always a top team. I've heard that Baton Rouge is a really nice city too."

Although he isn't sure if he'll have time this summer, Aghayere says he liked to visit Notre Dame as well. "The main thing I like about them is their academics," he said. "They are very prestigious and getting a degree from them is like saying you went to Harvard or something. I also like that all their games are televised on NBC."

He reports a 3.0 core GPA and a 900 SAT.
