Despite the continued extreme heat, the Cardinals practiced with plenty of intensity during day two of fall camp. The Cards host Fan Day on Saturday from 9 - 10 a.m. at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
Day two of Camp Kragthorpe brought more heat, intensity and fans. With just the first three practices open to the public, hundreds of Cardinal fans took advantage of the 5:20 p.m. start time and helped create an electric atmosphere during the second day of fall practice.
The Cardinals will host Fan Day on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The team will be signing autographs on the concourse of the stadium and a limited number of autograph cards and posters available at the entrance of Gate 4.
DAY TWO NOTEBOOK
Junior college transfer Woodny Turenne suited up for the first time on Friday. The JC All-American cornerback was forced to watch day one from the sidelines while awaiting required paperwork.
Cornerback Chaz Thompson has looked solid through two days. Gifted with 4.3 speed, Thompson has come up with a number of big plays during skellie action.
It's no secret, this year's group of receivers are among the best in the nation and they just may be tops in the country. From top to bottom, all seemed shined on day two. After dropping a few balls on Thursday, junior Mario Urrutia was sure-handed on Friday. 6'8 freshman Josh Chichester was the first to draw applause when, despite tight coverage, he hauled in a deep pass in the corner of the end zone.
Safety Brandon Heath made an impressive one-handed interception.
Among the notables in the crowd were former U of L receiver Joshua Tinch and hoops legend Darrell Griffith.
