Alabama CB plans to visit Louisville

The state of Alabama has been fertile recruiting ground for the University of Louisville over the years and the exposure the program received from a former Cardinal from Mobile could play a role in the eventual decision of another talented athlete.

"I know a pretty good amount about Louisville," said Louis Watson, a standout cornerback at St. Paul‘s in Mobile, Ala.. "One of my previous coach's son, Tiger Jones, used to go there, so I know about Louisville."

However, it wasn't the coincidental connection that helped Steve Kragthorpe and his staff discover and quickly extend a scholarship offer to Watson.

"They were watching a team highlight video," Watson explained. "There was a play when the other team's running back broke free and I ran him down and stopped him from scoring. They said they wanted to offer me right after seeing that play."

In addition to Louisville, Watson has also collected scholarship offers from Colorado, Houston, Marshall, Mississippi State, Purdue and UAB.

"Louisville and Purdue are still recruiting me the hardest," Watson said. "I'm not really in a hurry to make my decision though. I want to wait and see what happens."

While the 5-foot-10, 165-pound Watson is in no rush to pick his next school, he has started to consider which schools that he'll make an official visit with.

"I haven't scheduled any yet, but I plan on taking a few," Watson said. "I know Louisville and Purdue. I'll probably visit those two first."

Watson totaled 43 tackles and 6 interceptions as a junior.
