Top PG, Junior Cadougan, visiting Louisville

Louisville began to turn up the heat on Junior Cadougan last month after watching the 2009 star point guard throughout the July evaluation period. Cadougan will visit Louisville this week and his AAU coach, Ro Russell, told that his standout has strong interest in Rick Pitino's Cardinals.

Junior Cadougan, one of the top point guards in the Class of 2009, will make an unofficial visit to Louisville this week.

Cadougan, originally from Toronto, had a great summer on the AAU circuit and his play during the past few months has helped his stock sky-rocket with big-time college recruiters. At 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, Cadougan is a true point guard with excellent court vision and playmaking skills who can also fill it up from the perimeter.

Louisville has followed Cadougan for a while, but really started turning up the heat on the Christian Life (TX) star last month.

"He's visiting Louisville unofficially Wednesday and Thursday," said Ro Russell, Cadougan's AAU coach. "Louisville saw him play at the Reebok Camp and Coach (Richard) Pitino and Coach (Steve) Masiello liked what they saw. They started tracking in Vegas in July and called in August to express their interest and try to get him down for a visit."

What does Louisville see in Cadougan?

Cadougan's recruitment
is starting to heat up.

"They said he really fits their style of play," Russell said. "Louisville is pursuing him hard and they're one of his favorites. Junior became immediately interested in Louisville when they started to express interest this summer and it's definitely somewhere he wants to visit."

Cadougan, who will attend high school in Houston, Texas this year, also plans to make several other unofficial visits this fall.

"His recruitment is heating up," Russell said. "I expected this to happen but I thought it would happen next spring. A lot of schools are calling now to offer scholarships and try to get him set up to make unofficial visits to their campus."

Russell also said that Cadougan will visit Texas and Texas A&M in October and would likely try to set up visits to Baylor, UConn, Florida, Memphis and Louisiana Tech. "He's going to Texas A&M for their midnight madness and he'll visit Texas in October for one of their home football games," Russell said.

Russell indicated that Cadougan plans to make his college decision next summer, but said that time frame isn't set in stone.

"He's planning to make his decision next summer unless something breaks before then," Russell said.

Stay tuned to later this week for a complete report on Junior Cadougan's unofficial visit to Louisville.
