"It was nice," Ashley told InsideTheVille.com Sunday. "I went down with Stephon Ball and Greg Scruggs. It was more of an academic visit I guess for me because I've been down there with the coaches and stuff already. So I went down to see the school and talk with the professors. It was very insightful.
Ashley said he and his teammates only went down for the day, arriving in Louisville about 1 pm before heading back home to Cincinnati about 6 pm Saturday evening. Besides meeting with the academic people at U of L, Ashley also met with head coach Steve Kragthorpe, toured the football facilities and talked with some of the players around the football complex.
of his high school teammates. On his visit, he
talked with Steve Kragthorpe for 10-15 minutes.
"He basically just told me that he'd like for me to come there but he didn't put any pressure on me. He told me to just take my time and make sure that I make a good decision. But he didn't try to put any pressure on me or anything like that. It was a short meeting, probably 10-15 minutes."
Ashley recently narrowed his list down to two schools – Louisville and Virginia. He's already taken an official visit to Virginia. Now, having visited Louisville, does Ashley have a time-frame in mind for a decision?
"I really don't know," he said. "I have to talk things over with my family and friends. Whenever I feel comfortable I guess is when I'll announce my decision."
Asked to compare his visit to Louisville with the earlier one to Virginia, Ashley had this to say: "The only difference between the two was that I got to interact with the players more but that's only because I got to be around Virginia's players for the night," Ashley said. "But that was pretty much the only difference.
"I knew the (players) weren't going to be there went I went down because they played on Friday and Coach Kragthorpe told me that ahead of time. But actually I did get to talk with the players for a little while….some of the players from different positions. I didn't have a host or anything, they were just players that were around campus."
Ashley also said that he "could potentially take another visit down there (Louisville)" before making his decision. Steve Specht, Ashley's high school coach, told InsideTheVille.com late last week that he expected Ashley to make his decision sometime this week, perhaps by Wednesday.
As for Ball, a 6'5 wide receiver and Scruggs, a defensive end/tight end, Ashley said neither player has been offered by the Cardinals.
"They haven't offered Stephon yet or Greg," he said. "I know Greg and Stephon are both highly interested in Louisville."
