Ronald Byrd, a two-star prospect from Callaway (GA) High, is getting a lot of attention this season from college coaches. Byrd holds a scholarship offer from Louisville and the 6'6, 265-pound TE/DE has strong interest in the Cardinals.

"Right now he's not committed anywhere," Callaway coach Pete Wiggins. "I'm getting calls every day about him. I don't know where he's going to go. He likes several schools but as far as committing he hasn't done that. He's great, though. I'm excited about him."

Byrd, 6'6, 260-pounds, plays defensive end and tight end for Callaway, though he probably projects as an offensive tackle in college. "He's doing well for us," Wiggins said. "He's a big ole' tall kid and he is still young. He's 17 now."

Who's been calling Wiggins the most lately to check up on the athletic Byrd? "South Carolina, Louisville, Arkansas – I talk to Tracy Rocker a good bit, Troy State calls a lot, Purdue," he said.

Byrd holds scholarship offers from Louisville, Arkansas, Purdue, Indiana, Marshall and Clemson among others. "There's about nine of them," said Wiggins. Louisville and Arkansas appear the two front-runners at this point in Byrd's recruitment.

"He really likes Louisville," Wiggins said. "He does talk about them a lot. He just says he really likes Louisville."
