Melquan Bolding to wait

Melquan Bolding, a 6'4 guard/forward from New York, was the first player to verbally commit to Louisville in the Class of 2008. Bolding, however, won't sign with the Cardinals during the early period. InsideTheVille.com spoke with Bolding's AAU coach, Gary Charles, and has the latest.

Melquan Bolding's AAU coach, Gary Charles, told InsideTheVille.com Wednesday afternoon that his standout won't sign with Louisville during the early signing period.

"I think what the coaching staff would like to see is that Mel is on his way to having all his academics in order and that's what they had agreed upon," Charles said.

Charles said that Bolding is a solid commit to Louisville and if his academics are in order will sign with the Cardinals in the spring.

"That's the way it was presented to me when I spoke with Louisville the last time about that," he said. "So I don't think there have been any changes as far as that."

Bolding, who attends Notre Dame in Fitchburg, Mass. along with Louisville signee Terrence Jennnings, is doing well on the court and in the classroom these days.

"He's doing fine and doing the work he's supposed to do and he's playing well," Charles said. "As of right now, everything (academically) is in order."
