Will Steve Kragthorpe stay at U of L or bolt after the season for SMU? That's the question that has Louisville fans buzzing this Thanksgiving. With one game left in a disappointing season, rumors abound that Kragthorpe could be out the door after only one season at Louisville.

The Kragthorpe to SMU story that had been simmering beneath the surface for more than a week took center stage Tuesday. ESPN.com's Pat Forde reported SMU was interested in the first-year Louisville coach and that Kragthorpe was 50/50 on whether to stay at U of L or leave for SMU if the Mustangs placed an offer for their open coaching position on the table.

Later in the day, WHAS-11 Sports Anchor Kyle Draper cited U of L assistant Sports Information Director Rocco Gasparro as stating that Kragthorpe was 50/50 on leaving U of L for SMU.

Wednesday morning, Internet reports floated around that U of L officials had a scheduled conference call this morning relating to the Kragthorpe/SMU rumors. Gasparro, though, informed InsideTheVille.com Wednesday morning that "there is no conference call."

The story gets even more bazaar. Channel 5 in Dallas was rumored to have reported Tuesday night that Steve Kragthorpe had actually interviewed with SMU on Monday. Gasparro told the Louisville Courier-Journal Tuesday that neither U of L AD Tom Jurich or Kragthorpe had been contacted directly by SMU officials.

Kragthorpe was indeed out of town on Monday. When asked about the rumored Channel 5 report, Gasparro told InsideTheVille.com that the alleged interview didn't take place, saying that Kragthorpe was out of town Monday on a recruiting trip.

"He was in Pittsburgh recruiting…he did not interview," Gasparro told InsideTheVille.com. Apparently, Kragthorpe was in the Steel City to check in with Pittsburgh Central Catholic quarterback Tino Sunseri. Sunseri committed to U of L last spring but has since wavered on that commitment and has re-opened his recruitment to also consider Boston College.

When asked about WHAS-11's Kyle Draper's report that quoted him about Kragthorpe being 50/50 on whether to stay at U of L or go to SMU, Gasparro told InsideTheVille.com:

"(It) was taken out of context...and he (Kragthorpe) is committed here," Gasparro told InsideTheVille.com.

Gasparro told InsideTheVille.com Tuesday that the SMU job was Kragthorpe's for the taking.
