Two weeks after landing JUCO defensive back Justin Matthews and Josh Wiley, Louisville has struck again – this time on the offensive side of the football.
Maurice Clark, a 6'4, 215 pound wide receiver, from Saddlebrook (CA) C.C., committed to Louisville while making his official visit to UofL. Rated a three-star Scout.com prospect, Clark caught a team-leading 43 passes for 628 yards and eight touchdowns. His best game as a sophomore was a five touchdown, 117 yard, one touchdown performance against Fullerton (CA) CC.
"I committed to Louisville yesterday," Clark told InsideTheVille.com. "My in-home visit with Coach (Brent) Myers and Coach Kragthorpe pretty much sealed it. I just wanted to go ahead and commit so I called Coach Myers yesterday and let him know.
"He was real excited for me and he told me to thank my parents for their hospitality when he came over last week. And he said he'd call me today about the paper-work."
Clark caught 30 passes for 543 yards (18.1 yards per catch) and a team-leading six touchdown receptions during his freshman season.
Clark redshirted his first season at Temple. He'll graduate from Saddleback CC this month and plans to enroll at Louisville in January. He'll participate in spring practice for the Cardinals and has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
"I'm enrolling next semester and I'll probably arrive in Louisville the weekend before Jan. 7," Clark said.
