"I think they are both the same right now but Louisville might have a slight edge," Dempsey said. "I like the Big East and how they play. I also have a friend that goes there and I just like that Louisville has really shown interest in me."
Dempsey has already made an official visit to Michigan State. An official visit to Louisville January 11-13 is on tap next.
"I'm going to visit Louisville (January) 11th and Memphis wants to bring me in for a visit Jan. 19," Dempsey said. "Memphis is a wait and see thing right now."
That's because there is a good possibly Dempsey will make a decision following his visit to Louisville next weekend. "That's (definitely) a possibility," Dempsey said.
Dempsey led the College of Sequoias with 70 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss, one sacks, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
"I like Michigan State," Dempsey said. "I wasn't really impressed that much with the city but I liked their coaching staff and facilities."
"My main factors are basically the school and the coach, the facilities and the coaching staff and the players and teammates," added Dempsey.
Dempsey is looking forward to meeting new Louisville defensive coordinator Ron English.
"I think it's a good pick-up for them," said Dempsey. "I talked to coach (Brent) Meyers a couple days ago and we talked about my visit coming up. He was just asking me about my holidays and how things are going. When I talked to him they hadn't hired Michigan's defensive coordinator yet but they were close. He said (English) was a good guy and that I would like him and he'll be a good coach for them."
