Eteyen Edet, a super talented middle linebacker from Ft. Washington, MD, has missed his last two scheduled official visits to North Carolina and Michigan State. The 6'2, 235-pound Edet is scheduled to visit Louisville this weekend.
"It's a heavy, heavy possibility I will commit on my visit to Louisville," Edet told InsideTheVille.com Tuesday night. "They've been one of my dream schools since I was younger so for them to even be recruiting me is an honor."
on his visit.
Edet, who has recorded more than 100 tackles in each of the past two seasons, is looking forward to spending time with new Louisville defensive coordinator Ron English and linebacker coach Ted Roof this weekend.
"I'm looking forward to speaking with the new defensive coordinator that just came from Michigan and the linebacker coach that used to be the head coach at Duke," Edet said. "I'm looking forward to it a whole lot."
The Cardinals have an immediate need at linebacker after losing all three starters from last season – Preston Smith and Malik Jackson to graduation and Lamar Myles early to the NFL Draft. The opportunity to come in right away and play has Edet highly intrigued with Louisville.
"I know they had two big time linebackers (Malik Jackson and Lamar Myles) that are both leaving to go to the NFL," Edet said. "I know they had a tough year this year but that's OK because when I come hopefully we'll turn it around next year."
"Early playing time is one of the main things I'm looking for," Edet continued. "I'm 6'2, 235 and run a 4.6 forty. I have good leadership qualities, I'm sideline to sideline and I'm very aggressive. I want to be on the field. I take it personally when a running back gets 100 yards. So that's my goal – I'm going to shut down that running game. I want to play as a freshman and I'm going to make big plays and some mistakes but I'm going to try my hardest to be great. I want to be great."
A first-team All-State honoree this year, Edet made a big mark for Friendly HS in his only season with the Maryland-school, recording 101 tackles, 5.5 sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles.
