After an excellent visit last weekend, Louisville has made up significant ground for talented Chattahoochee (GA) defensive lineman Justin Smith. In fact, the Cardinals appear one of two teams in the mix to land Smith's signature on National Signing Day.

"Justin told me today that it was dead-even between Arkansas and Louisville," Chattahoochee coach Terry Crowder said.

Louisville and Arkansas are dead-even
for DE Justin Smith.

Earlier this week, Smith told InsideTheVille.com that he hadn't heard much from the new Arkansas coaches since Bobby Petrino took control of the Razorbacks program last month. That will change Wednesday, as the Arkansas staff is scheduled to visit with the 6'4, 285-pound Smith at Chattahoochee High School.

"They are due here any time today to visit him," Crowder said.

Arkansas' visit comes on the heels of a visit Tuesday from three of Louisville's assistants – defensive coordinator Ron English, defensive line coach Ken Delgado and recruiting coordinator Greg Nord.

"Three coaches from Louisville came down yesterday and visited with Justin at the school," Crowder said. "I thought it went real well. I've known coach Nord for a long time and I've got a good relationship with him and I know that he does a great job with kids. Nothing was set in stone, he just introduced the new guys."

Smith said earlier this week that he was planning a visit to Ole Miss this weekend. However, Crowder said he was unsure if that visit would occur. Crowder said he's sure Smith will visit Arkansas before formalizing his college decision but didn't know the date on that visit.
