Louisville lands visit from 3-star DE Youboty

John Youboty, a three-star defensive end from Klein, TX, was set to visit California this week. But the 6'4, 250-pound pass rush specialist has dropped the Bears and will instead visit Louisville. Will Ken Delgado's relationship help the Cards reel in the talented Youboty?

John Youboty, a three-star defensive end from Klein, TX, was set to visit California this week. But the 6'4, 250-pound pass rush specialist has dropped the Bears and will instead visit Louisville.

Steve Kragthorpe's recent hire of former Cal assistant Ken Delgado, who had been recruiting Youboty for the Bears, is already paying dividends for the Cardinals on the recruiting trail.

Louisville beats out Cal for a visit from
John Youboty this weekend.

"He's going to Louisville this weekend," said Stan Labay, Youboty's coach. "They just got involved with him one day this week – the coach that left Cal (Ken Delgado) and went to Louisville that's the tie-in."

Labay said Youboty, who made nine sacks this season, is no longer considering California.

"He's kind of open right now," Labay said. "He's not set on any one (school) right now and said this is where I'm going to go. He hasn't made up his mind where he wants to go. He's still looking at his different options and what schools are out there that might be interested in his services."

Labay said Nebraska, who Youbody recently visited, is a strong contender. With Louisville only jumping into the mix in recent days, can the Cardinals become a significant factor in Youbody's recruitment?

"I would say they have a shot," Labay said. "He's making a visit and when you make a visit a lot of things can happen. You can get real impressed or not impressed at all. It can go either way. It should be interesting. When you go in and take an official visit you leave there with an impression of some sort."

"He wants to leave his options open and look at different schools and see where he fits best," Labay said.

Labay said that Youbody doesn't have plans right now to visit any other school after he visits Louisville this weekend.
