Possible three-star visitor

Jacoby Thomas, a 6-0, 220-pound linebacker from Mobile (AL) Murphy, has re-emerged on Louisville's radar. Rated the No. 37 linebacker prospect nationally, Thomas might visit the Cardinals this weekend.

Louisville had recruited Thomas, who runs a 4.5 forty, early in the process but backed off when it appeared academics could be a problem. With things looking up for Thomas on that front, Louisville again appears to be turning up the heat and there's a good possibility that Thomas could make his first official visit to Louisville this weekend.

"I don't know for sure," Thomas said Thursday night about a possible visit to Louisville. "I'm waiting on the guy (Coach Roof). He's supposed to be talking to my parents today and get that worked out so I can get up there this weekend. And next week I'm supposed to go to Troy."

New Louisville defensive coordinator Ron English raveled to Moblie, Alabama Thursday to visit Thomas at his high school.

"Today the new defensive coordinator (Ron English) came to my school today and I gave him all my information. I talked to him for a good 40 minutes," Thomas said. "He was just telling me that they have no MIKE linebackers and they need some and that if I came up there I could start. He said if I want to come in and start he has a position for me."

Thomas made 96 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, nine sacks and two interceptions this season and said his strength is "being able to locate the ball carrier in traffic."

Besides Louisville and Troy, Thomas said he's also interested in South Carolina and Mississippi State.

"I like Louisville," said Thomas. "I like what I'm hearing about them and I want to go up there and check it out."
