Football schedule features eight home games

The University of Louisville released its 2008 football schedule Monday afternoon. It's a schedule that will keep the Cardinals at home most of the season. Louisville will play 8 of its 12 games at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, including six of their first seven games.

It's a schedule that will keep the Cardinals at home most of the season. Louisville will play 8 of its 12 games at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, including six of their first seven games.

The Cardinals, 6-6 in Steve Kragthorpe's first season, will open the '08 season with four straight home games. Louisville opens the season against Kentucky (Date TBD). They'll face Tennessee Tech Saturday Sept. 6, then host Kansas State Wednesday Sept. 17 (ESPN2). Louisville begins Big East Conference action Saturday Sept. 27 at home against Connecticut.

Louisville travels to Memphis Friday Oct. 10 (ESPN) before returning home against Middle Tennessee on Saturday Oct. 18 and South Florida Saturday Oct. 25.

The Cardinals then hit the road for back-to-back road games to begin November. Louisville faces Syracuse Saturday Nov. 1 and plays at Pittsburgh the following weekend.

Cincinnati visits Louisville Friday Nov. 14 (ESPN2) and West Virginia calls on the Cardinals Saturday Nov. 22.

Louisville will close out the 2008 regular-season Thursday Dec. 4 at Rutgers.

In all, Louisville is scheduled to play seven times on Saturday, twice on Friday, once on Thursday and once on Wednesday.

The Cardinals face seven bowl team from 2007: Kentucky (Music City), Connecticut (CarCare), Memphis (New Orleans), South Florida (Sun Bowl), Cincinnati, (Papa John's) West Virginia (Fiesta) and Rutgers (International).
