"He's kind of an unknown property right now," said Mike Bates, Thomas' high school coach. "There are (schools) that are starting to explore him now. He's getting some stuff from Southern Miss, Mississippi State and Auburn. He's going to be one of those kids that really come of age next year."
Thomas had a big junior campaign and should see interest in his recruitment increase this summer after he hits the camp circuit.
"He had a great year this past year," Bates said. "He's a big kid that (schools) are just starting to pick up on. We play him at end because he can rush the passer. He's got really good speed for a big guy. He is explosive off the ball. He can be a whole lot bigger before it's over with. He's got a good attitude and work habits. He's got a chance to be a really good player."
Thomas attended Louisville's camp last year and has interest in the Cardinals. According to his coach, Louisville has continued to monitor his progress and show interest in his recruitment.
"I think he had some interest in Louisville early," Bates said. "He went up there to Louisville's camp last year. They've continued to show interest."
Bates said Thomas might attend some Junior Days this spring but he'll likely wait until this summer when he attends camps to make visits to colleges. "He'll go to some camps this summer I think," Bates said.
