Brandon Putnam, a talented 6-3, 230-pound defensive lineman from Sandy Creek (GA) High, is getting heavy interest from several BCS-caliber programs. Putnam is making the rounds to various college junior days and he's looking forward to checking out Louisville early next month.

"I love Louisville," Putnam said. "Louisville is in a great location. It's a great, booming city and they have great academics. I haven't been there yet but I'm excited and looking forward to the visit. I marked Louisville's junior day on my calendar a long time ago and I'm really looking forward to it."

Putnam's current top five is heavy on ACC programs. Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Clemson and LSU are the early favorites for the talented defensive end. Just this week, Putnam received his first offer from Duke.

As a junior, Putnam recorded 62 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 5 sacks and three pass deflections. He's already visited Georgia Tech and plans to visit Auburn this weekend. He's been invited to Tennessee and Auburn's camp and he's expecting to visit Louisville for junior day next month with teammates Braxton Lane and Rio Johnson.

"I'm still planning on coming up on April 5," Putnam said. "We should (all) be coming up together. We were talking about going to Indiana's spring game that day but I'm telling them we're going to Louisville."

So what factors will Putnam consider before making his college decision? "The first deciding factor will be academics," Putnam said. "Then I'll look at a program that will put me in the best position of going pro. That's about it."
