Newspaper report creates stir for Peyton Siva

A published report in the Arizona Star Monday created a fire storm for Seattle (WA) Franklin point guard Peyton Siva and those close to him. The newspaper reported major changes to Siva's list of favorites, prompting a blitz of phone calls from reporters to the top point guard and his coach for clarification. Franklin coach Jason Kerr spoke with InsideTheVille.com to clear up the matter.

A published report in the Arizona Star Monday created a fire storm for Seattle (WA) Franklin point guard Peyton Siva and those close to him. The newspaper reported major changes to Siva's list of favorites, prompting a blitz of phone calls to the top point guard and his coach wondering what happened.

Here's what happened.

The newspaper incorrectly reported Siva's three leaders as USC, UCLA and Washington, quoting Siva as saying that "We want to play together. If Arizona fits me, I'll come to Arizona." There was one big problem with the article, the player quoted wasn't Siva – it was Avery Bradley, a 6-3 shooting guard from Tacoma, Washington.

"They (newspaper) misquoted a quote by Avery Bradley and put Peyton Siva's name in there instead," Jason Kerr told InsideTheVille.com. "That was not even Peyton's quote. His list has not changed. It's Washington, Kansas, Louisville and Arizona. Nothing has changed on his front what so ever."

Since the story went live at azstarnet.com, Siva and Kerr's phone has ringing non-stop. "He's getting blown up as well regarding the same thing," Kerr said. "Hopefully that should clear it up as we get a number of you guys to get that out there."

Kerr said there is nothing new to report on Siva's recruitment.

"He's pretty settled right now until he's done with the July period," said Kerr. "He intends to stick with those four (programs) through July and see where he's at at the beginning of August. You never know with recruiting because things can change but that's where we sit right now."
