"Right now I have 15 offers. Colorado, Temple, Syracuse, Maryland, Akron, Iowa, Penn State, Iowa State, Cincinnati, Pittsburg, Louisville, Auburn, NC State, Illinois, and Wisconsin are who have currently offered me" said Smith.
To help him narrow things down Smith has several factors that will help him in the selection process. "I am looking for a school where I will feel at home for 4 or 5 years. A good environment, good coaches, good people, and good overall surroundings. And a school where I can play early. Early playing time is a definitely a big thing. Also a school with good academics, because I want to major in Business Management" said Smith.
Smith who just recently received his offer from Louisville, has been told some good things by the Louisville coaching staff.
"I talked to Coach English and he told me that they really need DB's this year. And I would have a chance to play early as a freshman. I think Louisville is a great school. They always have really good players. They had the guy drafted by the Texans (Amobi Okoye) last year, and this year they had Brian Brohm. They always have good players so that is why I am interested in them" said Smith.
Abdul is coming off an outstanding season and he could actually help Louisville in special teams as well.
"Last year in 9 games I had 60 tackles and 4 interceptions. And also I had 3 kick returns last year" said Smith. And looking forward to his final high school season Smith said he is looking to work on some things. "These summers since schools are recruiting me as both a safety and corner I want to get bigger. I am 185 pounds right now and I want to be over 190 by next season. I also want to get faster. I ran a 4.5 at the Big Time showcase, and I want to be running consistently in the 4.4 range."
Smith plans to narrow his list over the summer then will look to make some visits before making a decision. "Once I narrow my list down we will make 5 official visits. Then me, my father, and my coach will make a decision. It will be made either just before the season or right after. We have not decided yet."
