Louisville does. The Cardinals sent McDaniel an offer this week and Scout.com's No. 16 ranked defensive tackle prospect nationally responded by moving Louisville into the lead for his services.
"I liked it a lot," McDaniel said of Louisville's offer. "They are probably at the top of my list right now. I'm probably going to take an unofficial visit there this summer and I will certainly take an official visit there. I've built a great relationship with coach (Greg) Nord. They've been recruiting me from the beginning and that's why I like them."
Why has Louisville emerged as the favorite for the four-star Calhoun, Georgia defensive tackle?
"I like that they aren't very deep at my position and I could go in my first year and compete for a position and playing time right away," said McDaniel. "I'm looking for a school I won't have to wait three or four years to get playing time."
McDaniel also holds offers from N.C. State, East Carolina and UAB. He says he'll probably take an unofficial visit to ECU this summer and will likely make an official visit to N.C. State next fall. McDaniel listed Louisville, N.C. State, Auburn, Alabama and Clemson as his current Top 5.
"Auburn, Alabama and Clemson are all recruiting me and they may offer me," said McDaniel.
As a junior, McDaniel made 52 tackles, seven tackles for loss and three sacks. McDaniel has excellent body control, superior lateral movement and can change direction very well. That's why he considered one of the very elite interior linemen in the nation.
"I bring size and I'm pretty fast and explosive for my size," McDaniel said. "I can be a great inside defensive tackle."
