"Well I love Louisville it is pretty much home sweet home for me. My uncle played for Louisville, but he played basketball Rick Wilson. And my family and friends are big fans of Louisville," said Wilson. "They want me to go there, but I am trying to take my time and weigh my options."
When speaking about the coaching staff the new defensive coordinator has really left a great impression on Wilson.
"I have a good relationship with Coach English. Me and Coach English we made a real connection and he seems like the kind of guy that is going to keep it real with you," said Wilson. "He is a guy that is going to tell it like it is and that is my type of guy."
Wilson continues to make frequent trips to campus and says that he love the fact he as such a big time program so close to home.
"It is great that I am able to call Coach Nord and I can set up visit to check things out if I want. The facilities and everything there is really nice," said Wilson.
Ridge is being pursued heavily by plenty of southern powerhouses and many have already stepped up with offers on the table
"Besides my offer from Louisville I also have offers from Indiana, Cincinnati, Arkansas, and Kentucky," said Wilson. "I am also being shown very heavy interest from Tennessee, Oklahoma, Auburn, and pretty much the whole SEC."
Ridge is looking intently at all his options and says there is no clear leader to date.
"I don't have any favorites at this time, I am just trying to pray on it and let god handle things for me," said Wilson. "I don't want to put much deep thought into it because I will just give myself a headache," Wilson said with a laugh.
Looking for a school with everything he is looking for will be importing moving forward as well.
"I am looking for a school that has what I am looking as far as academics. I am also looking for playing time and seeing who is in front of me on the depth chart. I also need to know if I can build a bond with the coaching staff and I feel as if I can come to them with a problem," said Wilson.
Wilson is planning a camp visit and other than that he is on a new diet plan.
"I am going to the Arkansas camp and other than that I am just working out every other day. My coach has me on a college workout program and they have me eating a half-box of pizza and foot-long subs so I can get bigger," said Wilson.
Ridge is 6-3 ½ and 212 pound and is a versatile defender that will bring plenty to his future school and he says that he can get better.
"I feel like my football IQ is really high. I was a lot more passive last year, but this year I am trying to be more aggressive and show everybody what I can do. I feel that I am athletic, fast I run a 4.6 forty, and I hit hard," said Wilson. "And I feel that I am just filling the holes in my game. I feel that I have the mental part down and I just need to continue to work on the physical part of the game. I need to also need to be a better leader as well."
Wilson says that he is his own man and really does not pattern or follow anyone in particular.
"I just try to play my game. I just try to compete and I want to go out and compete every time out," said Wilson. "I just want to be the best me that I can. I don't want to be like anyone I want to make a name for myself."
Wilson says that he will narrow his list fairly soon and at that point he will look to make an early decision.
"I am going to commit before the season starts or maybe by mid-season. I want to get it done early so I don't have the pressure and I can concentrate on the season and playing my game," said Wilson.
