For the most part, Marra has been under the radar since shooting the lights out at the Pittsburgh JamFest in April, though he did perform well recently at the Rumble in the Bronx. Now, though, with the July evaluation approaching, Marra will have a chance to boost his national reputation at several major camp and team AAU settings.
"I'm definitely going to the Reebok All-American camp and the Super Showcase in Orlando," Marra said. "The Reebok Summer Classic is still up in the air but I'm probably going to go to that. And I think that's about it."
Instead of travelling the AAU circuit, Marra chose to spend his time this spring working out on his own.
"Everything is going good," Marra said. "I've been playing pretty well. I haven't played in that many tournaments but we played in the Rumble (in the Bronx) a couple weeks ago and did well in that. I've just been working out and doing my own thing."
What's Marra been working to improve?
"I've been working on my lateral quickness. I'm trying to get my foot speed up a little bit to help my defense," said Marra. "I've also been in the weight room trying to get bigger. I'm working on my ball handling and I'm just trying to work on every aspect of my game."
Marra said he keeps in frequent contact with the Louisville coaches and is excited about the recruiting class the Cardinals are putting together. Besides Marra, Louisville also has 2009 commitments from Peyton Siva, (No. 6 PG) and Rakeem Buckles (No. 8 PF).
"I try to talk to Richard (Pitino) as much as possible," Marra said. "I'm excited about the class they're putting together. I can't wait to get on campus and see how they are because they seem like great players."
Marra said he'll probably make a visit to Louisville sometime this summer.
