Jamarielle Brown still hoping for an offer

Jamarielle Brown is one of the top prospects in Kentucky's Class of 2009. The 6-2, 170-pound three-star receiver was supposed to attend Louisville's Senior Development Camp last weekend in an attempt to earn an offer but didn't make it. What's the deal with Brown and the Cardinals?

"I wasn't able to go because we had a team meeting but I wish I could have went there," Jamarielle Brown said of Louisville's elite development camp. "I called Coach (Greg) Nord and told him I couldn't come."

The weekend prior, Brown made an unofficial visit to Troy. The southern Alabama school has ties to Brown's western Kentucky high school, having signed Lone Oak quarterback Corey Smith last year. Brown thinks the Trojans are close to making an offer.

"I went down to Troy last weekend and they are close to offering me," Brown said.

A first team All-State selection last season, Brown posted awesome numbers as a junior. Brown caught 106 passes for 2,021 yards and 28 touchdowns last season. He's also rated a three-star prospect and the #128 wide receiver nationally according to Scout.com. Still, Brown is waiting for his first scholarship offer.

"(Louisville) wanted me to attend their camp on Sunday so they could get a better look at me," Brown said. "I'm going to call Coach Nord this week to talk with him because (Louisville) is really the place I want to go to. I talk to him about once every other week. I love the atmosphere at Louisville and I know so many people up there. And Shenard Holton (3-star safety from Bowling Green with Louisville offer) from Warren East is one of my best friends and we've been talking about going there together."

Brown said that Troy, Indiana, Purdue, Louisville and Vanderbilt have been showing the most interest in his recruitment. He plans to visit the Hoosiers next month. "I'm supposed to take an unofficial visit to Indiana in August," Brown said.
