Damian Copland, a 6-0, 180-pound wide receiver from Palmetto, Florida, attended Louisville's senior development camp last weekend.

A sleeper prospect, Copeland didn't take long after visiting Louisville to cast his lot with Steve Kragthorpe's Cardinals.

"He's committed to Louisville," said Copeland's coach. "He felt Louisville was a good fit for him on and off the field. He enjoyed it there and wanted to go ahead and get this done."

The nephew of former Louisville linebacker Chad Lee (1999-2002), Copeland promises to bring good speed (4.5) and athletic ability (40+ vertical) to the Louisville offense. And while Copeland won't be able to help the Cardinals this season, he does plan to graduate early from high school and enroll at UofL in January 2009 – just in time to get a head start next spring.

Copeland had no formal offers before Louisville sent one his way last week.

Copeland becomes Louisville's fourth commitment in the class of 2009. He's the second prospect to pick the Cardinals in the past week, joining Bowling Green, KY. defensive back Shenard Holton. Holton committed to Louisville on Friday.
