Cards trying to get Durand Scott to visit

Louisville certainly wants to keep their pipeline into New York rolling. Durand Scott, the nation's No. 7 shooting guard prospect, could help matters. The Cardinals are hoping to bring Scott in for an official visit this fall and the talented 6-foot-5 guard/forward has Louisville in his sights.

"I'm trying to narrow it down to about eight schools," Durand Scott said. "Memphis, Miami, UConn, Louisville, Pitt and Xavier are on my list. I can't remember the other two right now. Before my school season (starts) I should have it down to at least three (schools)."

Rick Pitino hopes Louisville's New York ties will keep the Cardinals in the mix down the stretch with the four-star swingman. Scott attends Rice High in New York, the same school that produced current Louisville point guard Edgar Sosa.

"I'm interested in Louisville and I have a (former) teammate that goes there – Edgar Sosa. I've asked him about the school and he's given me a little (insight) why he made the decision to go there," Scott said. "Just from his decision I have interest but I don't know if I'm comfortable there because I haven't taken a visit there yet. When I take a visit there then I can give you much more detail about Louisville."

Scott said he doesn't have any official visits scheduled yet but that he'll likely begin setting them up in the near future. He also kept in contact with Sosa over the summer.

"I pretty much saw him every other day during the summer when he was back home because I play in summer leagues here and he was always there watching," said Scott.

So how will Scott ultimately make his decision? "Always the number one factor is education and second is I just want to be comfortable wherever I go," Scott said. "Everything else comes into play after those things."

Scott,'s No. 27 overall prospect in the 2009 class, said he was unsure whether or not he'll sign during the early signing period that begins in November.
