Scott 'comfortable' with Louisville

When the No. 27 prospect in America visits your campus on his own dime things are going very well. That's exactly what happened over the weekend when New York star Durand Scott made an unofficial visit to Louisville.

Scott, the No. 7 ranked shooting guard in the nation, was one of seven highly rated prospects that visited Louisville over the holiday weekend. Scott was the only 2009 prospect on campus, though.

"It was cool. I had fun," Scott said. "I hung out with the guys and ran (pickup) with them. The facilities are nice – one of the best I've seen so far. The dorms where they stay are nice. And the football game on Sunday was really exciting even though they lost. The atmosphere was great – everybody showed them love. It was a really great atmosphere to be in and I had a great time."

Scott attends Rice HS in the Bronx – the same high school as current Louisville guard Edgar Sosa. Scott said he hung around Sosa while in town, played some pickup with the current members of the Louisville basketball team, toured the facilities and attended the Louisville-Kentucky football contest on Sunday.

"I felt comfortable because those are my type of players and I got Edgar Sosa who was there and I was hanging around him most of the time," said Scott. "And I know a couple of other guys like Earl Clark and I knew the coaches (well). I felt very comfortable."

Before heading over to PJCS Sunday for some tailgating and football, Scott sat down with Louisville coach Rick Pitino for a one-on-one meeting. That's when Pitino made his recruiting pitch for the Cardinals.

"He put it straight forward to me and didn't sugarcoat anything," Scott said. "He didn't knock any other schools that are recruiting me -- he just told me about his school and that's a good thing. That shows confidence. He just told me about Louisville's history and his coaching history and how much of a great player I can become. That's what I liked hearing."

With the Louisville visit complete, Scott has plans to head out west for his next visit. "The only one I have planned is to UCLA the second or third weekend in September," Scott said.

Right now, Scott isn't showing his hand and he's not talking favorites. He's down to six programs and he's looking to cut into that list soon. Then he wants to make some official visits before settling on a school.

"I'm being real laid back and I'm not making a decision any time soon," Scott said. "I don't really have a favorite. Besides Louisville and UCLA, the other schools that I'm thinking about are Tennessee, Miami, UConn, Xavier. Those are the schools that I'm down to so far and I'll go from there."

"I'm trying to get down to five and when I do I will try to take all my officials," Scott added. "I definitely want to make a decision before my season starts."
