Oku gives Louisville solid marks

A lot of big-time high school prospects visited Louisville last weekend, none bigger than Oklahoma super recruit David Oku. The five-star Oklahoma City running back talked with InsideTheVille.com about his trip to Louisville.

David Oku made an official visit to Louisville over the weekend to get a feel for the program and the city. Did the Cardinals make a good impression despite losing the season opener to Kentucky 27-2.

"It was good and everything went well. I really enjoyed everything, it went well," said Oku. "I guess the biggest thing for me was just feeling comfortable. I was able to just relax. There wasn't any pressure to commit or anything."

Oku was hosted on his visit by junior wide receiver Trent Guy. He said that he was able to tour the campus and facilities while also talking with the coaching staff about the possibility of playing for Louisville next season.

"Everything up there was good. I was able to check out everything with the school and what I was looking for. All my questions were answered by the coaching staff," said Oku. "I got to go around the city and I got a chance to meet CoachRick Pitino. So that was cool."

Did Louisville exceed Oku's pre-visit expectations?

"I wasn't really expecting anything going into the visit. When you go into a situation expecting something you can possibly not meet your expectations, so I went into the visit with an open mind. But I liked it though. It was cool. It was kind of dull on campus I guess because the game was on a Sunday. But it I am not holding that against them or anything," said Oku.

A top-flight recruit, Oku has now been to several different campuses. How does Louisville compare to other stops he has made?

"I don't really try to compare schools I just try to look at everything (individually). I just look at every school separate to give every school the same chance," said Oku.

With his first official visit now in the books Oku is looking forward to his next official visit.

"I am trying to get in contact with the coach at Florida State about a trip this week. But if I can't get that trip set up for this week then I will probably not make the trip down there and just replace them with another school," said Oku. "I got Tennessee set and I got Nebraska set. Florida State was the other one I was looking at but I might just try to talk to another coach and see what they have to offer and take a trip there.

"I want to commit in the first or second week in October so I would not be able to set up another visit after that," added Oku.
