Hazelett, a three-star prospect from Indianapolis (Warren Central) IN, appeared set to announce for Kentucky this week. But the Wildcats didn't have a scholarship available for Hazelett and pulled their offer. That has forced Hazelett to take a closer look at his other options.
Those options appear to be two Big East schools – Louisville and Cincinnati – and the talented prospect says he'll make a decision next week. Hazelett plans to visit Louisville this weekend when the Cardinals host Tennessee Tech and that trip could foreshadow a commitment to the Cardinals.
"I'll probably make a decision next week," Hazelett said. "I'm going to Louisville this weekend. It'll probably be an official visit. If I don't go for an official I'm definitely just going down there to visit."
What stands out about Louisville? Hazelett believes he can make an early impact with the Cardinals.
"Louisville is pretty young and I feel that I can come in and be a big piece in rebuilding the program," said Hazelett. "I feel like I can be one of the guys that can come in and help. I want to play as a true freshman and make an impact. I'm just (visiting) making sure I'm making the right decision so I won't end up in another situation like I was with Kentucky."
Hazelett also lists Ohio State and Oklahoma but doesn't hold an offer from either the Buckeyes or Sooners. Hazelett said Arkansas put in a phone call after the news broke early this week about Kentucky.
