Fitzgerald sets first official visit

Andrew Fitzgerald, a four-star center from Wolfeboro (NH) Brewster Academy, has scheduled his first official visit. The talented 6-8, 245-pound Fitzgerald, rated the No. 14 center in the 2009 class, will make his first trip to one of the Big East's top programs.

"I'm going to Louisville October 18-19," Andrew Fitzgerald said. "I'm looking forward to that visit."

With three 2009 commitments already in hand, including talented guards Peyton Siva and Mike Marra, Louisville is looking to add a top big man to what is already a solid recruiting class.

"I keep in frequent contact with Louisville," said Fitzgerald. "I just talked to Richard Pitino two days ago and he told me that him and his father are coming up to see me September 19. I think highly of Louisville right now. I think they can help me get where I need to be as a (player)."

Besides Rick Pitino's Cardinals, Fitzgerald also lists Oklahoma at the top of his list.

"I'm going to Oklahoma in November but I don't have a date set up yet," said Fitzgerald. "They're losing several of their big (men) and I like their coaching staff. And they play in the Big XII conference – one of the toughest conferences in the country."

The opportunity for early playing time will be a large factor in Fitzgerald's decision. "I've checked both of their rosters to see who's leaving and Oklahoma is losing three or four big men this year," Fitzgerald said. "Blake Griffin's going to the draft and most of their big men are seniors."

Fitzgerald also said he's considering Kentucky, Minnesota, Xavier, Marquette and Seton Hall for visits. "I have no favorites right now," Fitzgerald said. "I'm just keeping it open. Louisville and Oklahoma are at the top but I'm also considering the other schools on my list."
