Louisville has competition for Chris Tanzy

Chris Tanzy remains highly interested in Louisville, but one ACC program has made a big move recently up the talented Marietta (GA) safety's list.

Earlier this month, the 6-foot, 185-pound Chris Tanzy told Scout.com that Louisville was standing out as a favorite on his list. One ACC program, though, intends to give the Cardinals some competition for Tanzy's signature. Is Louisville still out in front?

"Yes, but also NC State is standing out," Tanzy said. "I talked to their head coach (recently) and there's some competition up there on my list. My recruiter at NC State went to my high school and they're talking really good. They believe that I can get in there and really help them out. They're stepping it up."

Tanzy said the Wolfpack are recruiting him the hardest right now. He also stays in frequent contact with Louisville. "Louisville came to my school to get my transcript and SAT scores this week," said Tanzy.

Finding the school that offers the best opportunity for playing time next season will be Tanzy's deciding factor.

"That would be my top decision-maker along with the atmosphere," Tanzy said. "NC State is kind of young and they lose a lot on defense and Louisville last year was using wide receivers at DB. So they need a lot of help. I've been on them for a while and I know they've got a couple of seniors that will graduate."

Tanzy says he's also considering Mississippi.

"Ole Miss wants me to play corner," Tanzy said.

Tanzy will wait until after the season to make his official visits but he does plan to make a few unofficial visits during the season. "I'm going to take my official visits after the season," Tanzy said. "But I am going to go watch a couple games this season. I'm probably going to go to NC State, Ole Miss and Louisville."
