Lattimore talks Louisville; favorites

Having narrowed his list to five programs, Cedar Shoals (GA) LB DeDe Lattimore is ready to start taking official visits. Louisville is in the running and the big time playmaker discussed the Cardinals as well as his other favorites.

Standing 6-1 225 pounds, and sporting 4.5 forty speed, DeDe Lattimore has what it takes to make an immediate impact early in his collegiate career. He worked extremely hard to improve his game and his mental approach this year.

"I am doing alright, but we are learning a new system. Last year we were using a 3-4 scheme and now we are in a 3-5 basically. I am playing a little bit in the middle and also at defensive end," said Lattimore. "My coach says he sees a lot of improvement from me. He says he sees me being a lot more patient and I think all my work this summer paid off."

With his season hitting the midway point and the college season in full swing DeDe has gotten serious about his recruitment. With more the 15 offers to date Lattimore has cut his list to five elite programs that he will visit.

"I have not taken any visits yet this year but I have one official visit planned so far. I will be attending the Oklahoma State game when they play Oklahoma," said Lattimore. "There are a couple of schools that I know I want to visit before the season is out. Besides Oklahoma State I know I want to visit Louisville and South Florida. And will visit the others after the season just to see what the campuses are like."

Rounding out Lattimore's top 5 are Kentucky and Michigan. Lattimore was very candid when speaking about the schools that he is interested in.

Louisville - "With Louisville it is all about the coaching. I really like the coaches and especially coach Greg (Nord). I really think that he is a really cool dude."

Oklahoma State – "I like the coaching staff and their coaching style. I watched the Missouri game and I really liked the way they play defense."

South Florida- "I heard it is a real nice place down there. I heard it is really beautiful. My coach has a friend down there that is a coach. He was his old teammate basically. So he told me it was a good place."

Kentucky- "Coach Brown. It is all about coach Brown. They have a guy on their team that is from here and he has been telling me all about Kentucky."

Michigan- "Basically I have liked Michigan since I was little. I am a diehard Georgia fan, but I had a coach when I was little that was from Michigan. And Michigan was all he talked about."

Lattimore is excited to get his visits underway and he has just a few things he will be looking for.

"I am going to be looking for a good environment, a good coaching staff, and good teammates. I will be looking a basically the simple things," said Lattimore. "I want to go somewhere where I can learn something, catch on quick, and make an impact. I want a chance to play early even if it is on special teams. And somewhere that can help me make it to the next level."

When thinking about a timetable to make a commitment Lattimore needs to get a good vibe.

"Once I find what I am looking for and I find a school that has all the right things. And the flow is good then I will make a commitment," said Lattimore. "But if I still don't know where I want to go then I will probably wait it out until signing day."
