Van Treese gearing up for senior season

Louisville commit Stephen Van Treese has a lot going on these days. Not only will he sign a letter of intent with Louisville next month, but the 6-8 forward recently took the SAT and is eagerly anticipating his senior season at Indianapolis (IN) North Lawrence.

"I'm going to try to take my official (visit) after I get my SAT scores. I just took the SAT and the (scores) come in two days," Stephen Van Treese said last week. "I feel like I don't have to take an official visit just because it's so close and I've been there before and gotten a feel for the school."

Van Treese became the fourth player from the Class of 2009 to commit to Louisville, joining forward Rakeem Buckles, point guard Peyton Siva and wing Mike Marra. One of the top prospects in Indiana, Van Treese has been preparing for the upcoming season.

"We're getting ready for the season," said Van Treese, who visited a UofL practice last week with his Lawrence North teammates. "We can't start practice until Nov. 8. I've been working out with one of my coaches Monday and Thursday morning just working on my midrange game and our offense."

Van Treese said he keeps in frequent contact with Louisville assistant coach Richard Pitino. He says he'll sign with the Cardinals during the early signing period.
