Elite hoops recruits visiting Louisville

Three of the nation's elite high school prospects will be on the Louisville campus on Wednesday, including a pair of the nation's top underclassmen. Who will be visiting Rick Pitino's Cardinals? InsideTheVille.com has the scoop.

So who's coming to Louisville with Stephen Van Treese? Two of his Lawrence North teammates – 6-7 junior forward Justin Martin and 6-11 sophomore center Michael Chandler. Martin is rated the No. 36 prospect in the Class of 2010; Chandler is considered one of the elite prospects in the 2011 class.

"We're coming down Wednesday as a team," Van Treese confirmed.

While Martin has visited Louisville before, it will be Chandler's first trip to visit the Cardinals. Martin has an offer from Louisville and is strongly considering the Cardinals. Chandler recently picked up an offer from Louisville.

"He's real raw right now," Van Treese said of Chandler. "I think it's his third or fourth year playing basketball. He's getting a lot better and he has a lot of talent."

Chandler earned MVP honors at the Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph camp in Chicago this week. "(Chandler) played hard throughout the weekend and is showing signs of improvement every time out," Daniels said. "There's no question that (he) was the top prospect at the All-Midwest camp."

Here's Daniels' scouting report of Chandler from the Pangos camp: At 6-foot-10, 220-pounds, Chandler imposed his will in the paint on both ends of the floor. Although he still has a ways to go as far as scoring with his back to the basket, he plays hard, runs the floor and most importantly is active. Around the rim, he can use both hands and he showed a more developed right-hook than we saw this summer. In the Top 20 Cream of the Crop game he went for 18 points and 11 rebounds.

While Van Treese doesn't pressure Chandler or Martin to join him at Louisville, he is a good ambassador for the Cardinals to have working on their side.

"I don't pressure or bug them but if they ask me I talk to them about Louisville," Van Treese said.
