Louisville lands JUCO CB Preston Pace

Preston Pace, a 6-1, 195-pound cornerback from Butte (CA) C.C., has protypical size and speed for a Division I defensive back. One of the top prospects in the California junior college ranks, Pace made his college decision over the weekend after taking an official visit to Louisville.

"I'm excited about my commitment to Louisville," Preston Pace said. "I just got done with the visit. It was pretty good. Louisville seems like a pretty good situation as far as academics and playing time so I committed. I'll be signing on Dec. 17 with Louisville."

Pace was one of two official visitors at Louisville this weekend.

"I feel like anywhere I go to school I can do my part," Pace said. "I just felt at home at Louisville and I liked the city. I liked everything about Louisville and I felt ready to make my decision. And my dad liked it so I committed."

Pace held several offers and chose Louisville over Ole Miss, Kansas, Memphis, Akron, Hawaii and Minnesota. "South Florida was about to offer too," Pace said. "I'm done with my visits. I'm not taking anymore visits."

Pace is set to graduate from Butte in December and he'll have three years to play two at Louisville.

"I bring intensity and a lot of energy," Pace said. "I think I can be a leader right away. I'm ready for it and I'm pretty excited about it."
