Did Louisville sway Tuipulotu?

Siosaia Tuipulotu considers himself a ‘soft' commit to Utah. Last weekend, the 6-foot-2, 285-pound defensive tackle from Euless (TX) Trinity, made an official visit to Louisville. Did Tuipulotu's trip to UofL change his mind?

"It was pretty good," Siosaia Tuipulotu said of his trip to Louisville. "I was pretty excited (about Louisville) because they run the same defense as we do in high school. Their academics are pretty good too."

Tuipulotu committed to Utah last month but still wants to take other visits and check out a few more schools.

"I'm a soft commit to them," said Tuipulotu, who is known as ‘L.T.' "My visit to Louisville don't affect nothing. I mean Louisville's a pretty good school but I'm still committed to Utah."

Is Tuipulotu thinking about switching his commitment from Utah to Louisville?

"That's pretty tough," L.T. said. "I don't think so but I don't know yet. I'm open for anything. My team lost and the season is over and I'm up for anything. I'm pretty much open for any visit and I'm a soft commit for Utah but I can change my mind. I'm still open for other schools too."

Why did Tuipulotu decide to give Utah a verbal commitment? "The reason why I like Utah is the culture – there's a lot of Samoans," L.T. said. "I felt comfortable there."

Did he have a similar level of comfort with Louisville? "Well, yeah -- with the coaching staff," "I'm pretty comfortable with (Ken Delgado). My cousin (Nu'u Tafisi) used to play for him at Cal."

Tuipulotu next plans to visit UCLA. "I plan to go to UCLA," L.T. said. "I'm going to take all my visits then come back and talk about it with my parents. Then I will make a decision after I take all my visits."

The current Utah commit said he's still considering Louisville, Nebraska and Utah. "Those are the four schools I'm still considering," Tuipulotu said.

A member of the LDS church, Tuipulotu plans to take a Morman mission following his senior year of high school, meaning he won't join the team he signs with next season.
