UofL recruits knock off Favors for title

Louisville recruits Stephan Van Treese and Justin Martin helped lead Lawrence North to a 58-44 win over Derrick Favors and So. Atlanta in the championship game of the T-Mobile Invitational Tuesday night in Muncie, Indiana.

Van Treese held his own against Favors, Scout.com's No. 1 ranked prospect, finishing with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Van Treese also had one assist and one block.

Favors fouled out in the the final period. He finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

With Favors in foul trouble, Lawrence North opened a 38-21 lead at the end of the third quarter. Though Favors helped his team mount a fourth quarter rally, things quickly got out of hand when the 6-foot-9, 220-pound center fouled out in the final minutes.

Martin, a skilled guard/forward with a nice shooting stroke from the perimeter, had 9 points, 2 rebounds and two steals and made a pair of three's.

In two games at the T-Mobile Invitational, Van Treese had 17 points and 20 rebounds. Martin combined for 20 points and 9 rebounds.
