Rankin an explosive defensive end prospect from Butte JC is ready to make some moves in his recruitment. Besides the above mentioned programs he is also considering Oregon State and Marshall. It also seems one team has a bit of a lead in his recruitment to this point.
"Right now I like Oregon State. I really like the team and they had a really good season this year. I have been to Oregon and I like it there. And I like the atmosphere," said Rankin.
Brandon did mention that OSU mainly leads due to the fact that he has already visited the program and that once making additional visits things could change. The 6-5 255 pound defensive playmaker says that he has a couple of impressive offers with more on the way.
"LSU has offered me and they want me to come in and redshirt this season. I also have an offer from Washington State," said Rankin. "My coach says that (Louisville) really wants to offer me, but they want to get a chance to talk to me. So I am going to talk to them some more and they will probably offer me. They have been recruiting me since November."
A close friendship could also ultimately pay big dividends for Louisville in their recruitment for the defensive playmaker as well.
"My friend (Preston Pace) is going to be playing there this year. He played DB on our team this year and I would like to play with him again this coming year. And I just like Louisville as well. Also I will have a chance to play early also," said Rankin.
Rankin is coming off a banner season that saw him collect 98 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and an astounding 24 sacks. So there was no surprise to what Brandon feels is the best part of his game.
"My best ability is my pass rushing. I am really good in pass situations and also on third downs," said Rankin. "I think I need to work on my weight and my strength. I want to get up to 260 or 270 pounds because I am around 255 right now."
